Board Approves (?) Mass Transfers

A transcript of the relevant portion of the May 24, 2000 meeting of the Library Board of Trustees, when the Board authorized the involuntary transfer of over twenty senior employees at the Central Library to branch facilities:

Benjamin F. Jenkins: The Personnel Committee met on May 11th. And as I have in front of me, Action Item 0037, which is in your package, and the action item involved new hires, personnel transactions, staffing reassignment (Phase 1). As you read the background information, you will see that the motion was made to approve the new hires for the subject items that are on this document. And the [unintelligible] seconded the motion. There were no noted objections and we are presenting to the full Board, for your approval, the recommended action on the new hires [italics added]. I would certainly appreciate any information from any of the members who were in attendance to be sure that we have a comprehensive package report from this [unintelligible]."

William McClure: May I ask for a second, since it was a recommendation out of committee, and then we’ll provide an opportunity for discussion.

[Unidentified Speaker:] Second.

William McClure: It’s been properly moved and seconded. Discussion? [Pause.] Hearing none, all in favor say Aye.

[Unidentified Speakers:] Aye.

William McClure: Opposed, No. Motion carried. The personnel transactions are indeed approved.
