Text of the Group Grievance of the May 25th, 2000 Transfers
Grievance Submitted:June 18, 2000
Hearing Conducted:August 17, 2000
Ruling Approved:October 30, 2000

Brief Description of the Group Grievance:

The reassignments of library employees announced by the Library Director on May 25, 2000...show a total disregard for the skills and experience of the library employees. The transfers decimate the cadre of senior managers at the library system's Central Library and do not address the actual personnel needs of the other library facilities to which the Central Library employees were reassigned. Some of the transfers appear retaliatory or racially motivated.

With no demonstrable benefit to the organization or the library's users, the transfers disrupt productive working relationships and wreak havoc in the personal lives and chosen career paths of numerous county employees.

The transfers jeopardize the ability of Fulton County Government to provide professional library service to the citizens of Fulton County.
