AFPL's Status in a Ranking of U.S. Public Library Systems

For each of the past four years, Thomas J. Hennen, Jr. has ranked public library systems according
to various criteria, then lumped these criteria into a weighted single score.
Here are the scores from Hennen's most recent ranking of library systems that
serve populations similar in size to the population (600,000-900,000) that AFPL serves, as well as
scores for other metro-Atlanta library systems.
Of the 16 U.S. public library systems comparable in size to the population served by AFPL, the
overwhelming majority rank higher than AFPL.

How's That Again?

The South Fulton Branch Library manager's position was finally filled
recently, after Gladys Dennard's murder last July left the position
suddenly and tragically vacant. Here's the library administration's
description of why the manager position was vacant:
"Vacancy due to retirement"
