I see similarities between Yasir Arafat, who kills any potential Palestinian leader who
might become a threat to his authority, and Mary Kaye Hooker, who gets rid of anyone
who might be a threat to her hegemony. Think about it. There is now no one of any
stature or talent in the library administrative hierarchy. Even if the Board took the
decision to fire Hooker, she has "scorched the earth" to the point that no one has any
knowledge or authority to run the place. When she was strategizing, she was doing
nothing more than planning her survival on the corpses of those who she got rid of.
Parallels to the terrorist Arafat are inescapable.
