Three observations about the recent memo concerning the deputy director's
retirement/firing/termination/quitting:
- The Timeline: It's common knowledge among libary staff that
Ms. Garnes tendered her note of departure effective August 6, 2003. Typical of
anything and everything that the Board rules over in the personnel area, it took six
weeks before this personnel decision was executed and announced. (Actually, by
Board standards, six weeks was almost speedy.)
- Hooker's Knife Twist: A "most highly visible employee" who wasn't around
and nobody noticed was gone for SIX WEEKS??!!
- Is She Really Gone? This marks the third time Ms. Garnes has been
seperated from employment at the Library. The previous two times that she was fired
Garnes managed to get her job back. Has anyone seen the body with the stake in the
heart?
